The Science Behind Wrap Factor by BodyBoutique
Talking about the science behind Wrap Factor by BodyBoutique, or similar body wraps, is a lot like talking about the science behind placebos. And whether we’re talking about diet pills or other weight loss remedies, placebos are a pretty common thing to run into. Now, we’re not saying that body wraps do absolutely nothing, but we’re saying their results are deceptive and highly over-rated.
If you’re not familiar with the concept of a body wrap, it is basically the idea that wrapping specific parts of your body with wet cloth soaked in minerals over the period of, say, an hour, can release “toxins that build up” in your body which supposedly cause cellulite, excess body fat and other unpleasant things. No, none of these claims are proven or have any scientific basis. However, after just an hour or so of sitting with these wraps on, many people see a measurable (if not visible) reduction in the circumference of the area that was wrapped, whether it be their stomach, thighs or arms.
The Wrap Factor kit has a version for men and women but includes basically the same things:
- 2 Bandages
- 4 Clay Sachets
- Measuring Tape
- Instruction Booklet
- Skin Firming Cream
You are supposed to soak the bandages in boiling water, then add the clay packets. After the water has cooled a bit, you wrap the chosen area firmly with the bandages and cover yourself with a towel to stay warm. After an hour, you take it all off to see how many inches you lost.
What actually ends up happening with a diet product like this is the clay or minerals that you soak the wraps in are hypertonic (contain more salt/mineral particles) to the interstitial fluid that sits in your skin cells. It slowly draws out some of the “water weight” that you naturally hold in your skin through osmosis, which temporarily shrinks that area of skin. This effect doesn’t last very long and has absolutely no effect in terms of long-term weight loss.
Wrap Factor by BodyBoutique Policies
There is no satisfaction guarantee or return policy for Wrap Factor. If you don’t like it, tough luck.
Wrap Factor by BodyBoutique Lowest Price
Wrap Factor is sold in most places we’ve seen for about 50 euros ($72) and come with no money-back guarantee if you’re not satisfied with the results. This is crazy ridiculously expensive for what you’re actually getting. The whole point of the product is not even to lose weight but rather to make you appear thinner, so it’s not like you can complain if you don’t lose weight anyway. Even if you could return it, it would cost quite a bit to ship it back to Europe.
Does Wrap Factor by BodyBoutique Work?
The “special formula” used in Wrap Factor along with the clay contains:
- Almond oil
- Vitamin E
- Fennel
- Juniper berry
- Cypress
While these are generally good ingredients for skin health (especially Vitamin E), there really isn’t anything in it that could help you lose weight in the long-run like a good diet pill. Even if you were to use Wrap Factor over your entire body every day (which would take like half your day), you’re not going to lose anything other than water weight, so you’d be dehydrated and less healthy. We don’t recommend anything about Wrap Factor by BodyBoutique even if it were one third the price.
