The Science Behind NOW Foods Berry Energy Tea

When most people are looking for some extra energy, they reach for either coffee, a soft drink, or a high-powered energy drink. Heck, some people even take straight caffeine, not to mention those who do amphetamines…but of course that’s just crazy. NOW Foods Berry Energy Tea is an all-natural alternative to many of the traditional options for an energy boost and is marketed to diet pill consumers as it is sugar free and low calorie. Aside from the artificial sweetener (Xylitol) the formula is largely herbal or “natural”, if you will. The NOW Foods Berry Energy Tea formula contains:
- Stevia Extract (natural sweetener)
- Instant Decaffeinated Green Tea
- Natural Raspberry Juice Powder
- Phytofruit Blend – Organic Juice Blend Powder (Organic Raspberry, Organic Cranberry, Organic Strawberry, Organic Carrot, Organic Blackberry, Organic Watermelon)
- Goji Berry
- Grape Seed Extract
- Green Tea Extract
- Citric, tartaric, and malic acid
- Natural Strawberry Flavor
- Natural Beet Powder
- Natural Grapeskin Powder
- Vitamins: E, C, B-5, B-6, B-12, D, A, Niacin, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Folic acid
What you may have noticed while scanning through these ingredients is that there is actually nothing here in the way of stimulants like caffeine or herbal energy/stamina enhancers such as ginseng. So where is the “energy” in NOW Foods Berry Energy Tea? Good question. We have NO FRIGGIN IDEA. Apparently the product developers at NOW Foods just thought they could slap the word “energy” on the product and consumers would go off the placebo effect? Very disappointing.
NOW Foods Berry Energy Tea Policies
There doesn’t appear to be any particular return policy associated with NOW Foods products as they are only sold through secondary retailers. Given how cheap Berry Energy Tea is, you are unlikely to get any satisfaction guarantee and if you buy it online it wouldn’t be worth it to pay the shipping to return it.
NOW Foods Berry Energy Tea Lowest Price
Each box of NOW Foods Berry Energy Tea comes with 12 packets and retails for $5.99. However, you can find it for as cheap as $3.30 per individual box online plus $5 shipping. Obviously when you have to pay more for shipping than the product itself, it’s not exactly worth your time, but you can buy boxes in packs of 4 or 12 for $13 and $40, respectively.
Does NOW Foods Berry Energy Tea Work?
If we’re talking about whether Berry Energy Tea works like a diet pill, the answer is clearly no. Other than a handful of vitamins and a variety of fruit flavors, you’re getting absolutely nothing here that would help you lose weight (though at least it is sugar free).
The kicker for us is the fact that there isn’t even anything in NOW Foods Berry Energy Tea that could really boost your energy. To be fair, in the company’s claims about the product, it really only point out that Berry Energy Tea is sugar free, low calorie, high in vitamins, all natural, contains “super fruits” an contains no artificial flavors or preservatives. So, they aren’t really lying to you, but when you put “energy” in the product name it gives a specific impression. I guess they were just hoping that you wouldn’t read a review about it before buying Berry Energy Tea. Good thing you did, right?
