The Science Behind Natural Factors SlimStyles PGX

SlimStyles PGX, a weight loss supplement from Natural Factors, is essentially a fiber supplement. However, the company claims that “PGX goes beyond fiber. It is highly concentrated and works quickly to curb appetite and cravings.” Though fiber has long been known as a good way to keep you “regular” digestively, it has been recently shown to help reduce cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease, among other benefits. Despite their claims, Natural Factors SlimStyles PGX doesn’t really appear to offer much more than your average fiber drink supplement. According to the company, the basis for the formula lies in a proprietary blend of 2.5 grams of:
- Konjacmannan
- Sodium alginate
- Xanthan gum
Essentially, these three ingredients soak up water. A lot of it. Konjacmannan, another name for the extract of the konjac root, is more commonly known as glucomannan. This has been shown to be a great way to increase a feeling of satiety when taken before a meal as it swells in the stomach/digestive tract to take up more space. Each of the other ingredients also serve as emulsifiers and thickeners, so together this may be a relatively thick drink.
SlimStyles PGX Side Effects
Diarrhea may result from using this product if you are already getting enough fiber in your diet.
SlimStyles PGX Policies
Natural Factors, the company which produces all the SlimStyles products, sells through retailers and apparently offers no “manufacturer’s” guarantee. Most distributors/retailers only offer the standard money-back guarantee for unopened product. In this sense there is no “satisfaction” guarantee.
SlimStyles PGX Lowest Price
The lowest online price we’ve seen is $14.92, but this comes with a $6 shipping charge, so this isn’t really all that cheap for a drink mix. The company suggests drinking 2 packets up to 3 times per day, so this may not last you too long.
Does Natural Factors SlimStyles PGX Work?
The main issue here obviously is whether this drink will help you lose weight. Other products using glucomannan have been shown to be somewhat successful, though here the concentration of actual glucomannan is not known. Based on the recommended dosage, this may work fairly well based purely on the fact that they recommend drinking a LOT of it. While this may help curb your cravings, the words that come most readily to mind are “gag reflex”. SlimStyles PGX may work, but its a little pricey for what you’re actually getting.
