The Science Behind Magic Slim

Magic Slim is a diet pill produced by Guangzhou Health, a Chinese company (though for some reason it is claimed to be a Japanese product in many places online). Following suit with its origins, Magic Slim seems to follow mainly traditional Chinese medicine and bases its claims of effectiveness on the mystique of several wild mushrooms. While there may be some evidence to support health benefits from some of the ingredients, Magic Slim may be more “magic” than science. Here is the break down of the full formula:
- Ganoderma Lingzhi – a type of mushroom which is highly regarded in traditional Chinese medicine as the “elixir of life.”
- Ebony – an extremely dense, black wood which is often used for small crafts and musical instrument parts
- Fox nut – supposed to increase potency for men, but lacks any scientific evidence
- Tuckahoe (wolfiporia extensa) – another mushroom used in Chinese medicine. Supposedly related to a variety of mystical benefits, but is most likely just a diuretic
- Semen Pruni (bush cherry seed) – known to have laxative effect
- Dioscoreae – generic name for a type of yam which may function as a diuretic
- Wheat Germ – rich in protein
- Nature Substance – we have no idea what this could be.
As none of these ingredients are listed with concentrations, it is impossible to know exactly what sort of effect you are likely to experience. The primary ingredient – the lingzhi mushroom – has been studied extensively for anti-tumor and anti-cancer properties. While these effects are merely speculative at this point, there have been studies to show that it may reduce blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels. These effects may make it easier to lose weight, but with two diuretics and a laxative, the more likely effect of this formula seems to be water loss, which is not a healthy or effective way of losing weight.
Magic Slim Side Effects
Diarrhea and intestinal pain are possible and you should expect to have to urinate more often. We don’t know what “nature substance” is, but if you end up taking this stuff just pray it doesn’t have any crazy side effects. The company advises that “this is not for those with heart disease, liver problems, kidney problems, pregnant women, and children.”
Magic Slim Policies
Magic Slim is apparently only sold through secondary online retailers and there is no satisfaction guarantee. Even for unopened bottles, you may only receive an exchange for another product of equal value. This is one of the worst “refund” policies we’ve seen (because it isn’t one).
Magic Slim Lowest Price
Though it is priced at $40, it is sold for as low as $20 plus shipping. Given the uncertainty regarding the ingredients in the formula and their concentrations, this is a risk no matter how you cut it.
Does Magic Slim Work?
As discussed, there are a few ingredients in Magic Slim that may provide benefits which are related to weight loss, but there isn’t any evidence that this formula actually has resulted in significant weight loss. There aren’t even any user testimonials on Magic Slim. In fact, the only information we’ve found from customers is disappointment regarding other products from the company, like Magic Slim Tea. We’re not knocking lingzhi, as it actually appears very promising, but Magic Slim doesn’t promise to work for weight loss.
