The Science Behind Oolong & Matcha Tea

As one of three tea-based products produced by Irwin Naturals, we were curious as to what this particular one might have to offer.  Using a couple of more exotic varieties, you might expect it to be a specialty tea blend, but its actually a weight loss pill with three different kinds of tea and a handful of other ingredients including fish oil.

As we were just saying, the formula is definitely not just tea.  Tea actually accounts for less than half of the actual dose:

  • Green Tea – 495 mg
  • Matcha (Green) Tea – 150 mg
  • Oolong Tea Extract – 150 mg
  • White Tea Extract – 90 mg

Though these are all excellent sources of antioxidants and caffeine, you don’t really get the benefit of variety since you’re taking them in pill form.  Most of the reason they are valued differently is because of the variety of flavors.  In any case, the rest of the product includes:

  • Caffeine -150 mg
  • Asian Ginseng Extract – 30 mg
  • Astragalus – 30 mg
  • Brown Kelp – 30 mg
  • Schisandra – 30 mg
  • White Peony – 30 mg
  • Omega 3 Fish Oil – 1414 mg

While these ingredients may be related to a variety of benefits, the only ones with significant dosages are caffeine and fish oil.  Caffeine of all may be the most related to weight loss, but fish oil is generally good for lowering cholesterol.

Oolong & Matcha Tea Side Effects

The caffeine content is that of at least two cups of coffee, so don’t take it too late in the afternoon to avoid restlessness.

Oolong & Matcha Tea Policies

The return policies will vary with the given distributor since the company doesn’t sell Oolong & Matcha  Tea directly, but you’ll probably pay more if there is a policy.

Oolong & Matcha Tea Lowest Price

As a tea-based product, we wouldn’t expect too high a price, but for about $12 this is one of the more affordable.  Good value.

Does Oolong & Matcha Tea Work?

Though this is by no means any kind of revolutionary weight-loss product, it is a good source of antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids.  Oolong & Matcha Tea is very affordable in terms of general health and may be priced well for a weight-loss product, but there isn’t anything particularly special about taking a variety of teas in pill form.  If you want to enjoy more exotic varieties of tea, we suggest just buying the tea separately to drink.
