The Science Behind HSP Active
The first thing to realize about HSP Active is that it is a bodybuilding pill designed to increase muscle size and not necessarily a diet pill designed to help you lose weight. If you want to shed significant pounds, HSP is not designed for you. However, if you are interested in looking ripped, even if it means you gain weight in the process, then keep reading.
HSP Active, brought to you by MRI, attempts to increase the amount of Heat Shock Proteins (HSP’s) in your body. HSP’s play a couple of important roles in your body, including transporting proteins to their proper place, folding proteins to their correct configuration, and preventing unwanted proteins from building up in your body.
Therefore, MRI deduced that if they could increase the amount of HSP’s in your body, then your body would clear out any junk protein near your muscles, and increase the folding of new muscle proteins dramatically, leading to larger muscles and quicker recoveries from workouts.
Great idea…but how does HSP Active increase heat shock proteins?
HSP has one main ingredient, TEX-OE Prickly Pear Extract. It is an MRI patented ingredient and in their own words is “surmised to produce results.” MRI also says that TEX-OE “may help increase lean mass and strength,” and that this claim is based on emerging scientific research. The words “surmise” and “may” don’t provide me with feelings of confidence in a diet pill.
To HSP Active’s credit, there was a clinical study performed on trained athletes that did show improved heat shock protein activation more than exercise alone.
HSP Active Polices
I could not find a return policy on MRI’s website, leading me to believe HSP Active would be a difficult product to return if you weren’t pleased. MRI does claim you’ll see dramatic results, but understand there is not a clear return policy, so you’re stuck with the product once you buy it.
HSP Active Lowest Price
MRI has the retail price for HSP Active listed at $49.99 for a bottle of 30 pills, but currently has it on sale for $34.99. That is pretty pricey for a bottle only containing 30 pills, but more reasonable at the lower price.
Does HSP Active Work?
Again, HSP Active is not designed to help you lose weight, and MRI even warns that you will often gain weight while taking it. As a bodybuilding pill, HSP active has mixed results, but as a diet pill to help you lose weight it is extremely ineffective. Effective diet pills will suppress your appetite, whereas HSP Active is reported to increase your appetite.
Another thing to consider when taking HSP Active is that it isn’t very user friendly. You’re supposed to take the pills 1 ½-2 hours before your workout, but you’re also not supposed to eat any fiber 2 hours BEFORE or 2 hours AFTER you take HSP active. Fiber is in a lot of different foods and drinks, so you’re basically fasting for 4 hours before your workout, which makes it very difficult to have an effective workout.
So if you’re looking to lose weight, definitely don’t take HSP active. If you want to be ripped and build muscle, can follow the routine for taking the pills, are already in good shape, and are satisfied taking a product with mixed results, HSP active may be your pill…
