The Science Behind Meizitang Diet Pills

When it comes to the Chinese diet pills known as “Botanical Slimming” soft gels, the science is a bit mixed up in what the company calls “theory.” That is, the ingredients in Meizitang Diet Pills “theoretically” will “restrain the activity of lipase in stomach and intestinal canal to enable the fat in the taken food not to be absorbed by the body. This effect is shown in the form of defecate with fat (oil) nature, which means people could excrete the equal quantity of fat as that has been taken.”

If you had any trouble understanding the roughly translated Chinese, basically they’re saying that any fat you eat will simply go straight through you.  They also claim that the Meizitang formula will improve your metabolism, circulation and get rid of “toxins” built up in your system. All of this with ingredients like “nice slimming grass”, tarragon, and lotus.  Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to find any evidence whatsoever that the ingredients in Meizitang Diet Pills will do this, unless you consider peeing more “detoxifying.”  Feel free to check it out for yourself.

The listed ingredients in each 650 mg dose include:

  • Perilla plant (“Zi Su”) – 162 mg – an herb in the mint family with a flavor and aroma similar to mint or fennel.
  • Oriental Water Plantain – 85 mg – believed to function as a diuretic
  • Cassia Seed – 65 mg – also known as Chinese senna, these seeds may have a laxative effect.
  • Tuckahoe mushroom (“Fu Ling”)- 111 mg  - a type of fungus that breaks down wood, this was used in Chinese medicine as well as simply food for Native Americans in times of scarcity. Other than being potentially diuretic, there is no scientifically proven benefits to using it as a “medicine”.
  • Medical Amylum – 227 mg – amylum actually just refers to plain starch, so its interesting the ingredient with the highest dose is basically proven to do absolutely nothing for you other than add a few calories.

Safety Concerns

First of all, if Meizitang Diet Pills did what they claimed to do, you would be experiencing some very oily and loose stools, but in any case the most noticeable side effects may include diarrhea (from cassia seed) and increased urination (due to the diuretics). While these effects may be of particular importance to those with kidney or liver problems, the company also makes clear that Meizitang Diet Pills should not be used in conjunction with any other medication or by:

  • People with hyperthyroidism, prostate inflammation, women in pregnancy or lactation, those under age 18 or over 60, or those who have any risk of cardiovascular disease or high blood pressure.

Meizitang Diet Pills Policies

While the company proudly claims to have a money-back guarantee, its really only for 90% of the purchase price as they charge you a restocking fee and you’re only eligible for money back if you ship it back to them within 15 days of receiving your Meizitang Diet Pills.  This certainly doesn’t allow much time to see results.

Meizitang Diet Pills Lowest Price

The lowest price you can get on a per-package basis is by buying 500 packages at once at $6.50 per pack. That shows you how cheap the ingredients in Meizing Diet Pills really are if they can still make money at that price. Even so, if you want to just try one month’s supply, it will cost you $30.

Do Meizitang Diet Pills Work?

Based on our research and the fact that the company itself doesn’t even cite any clinical evidence to support its rather ridiculous claims, we don’t see any reason to believe that Meizitang Diet Pills will work for you. The company claims you can lose more than 10 pounds per week on these diet pills, but we think you’d be hard-pressed to lose more than a pound of water weight from hitting the bathroom more often. There are definitely better diet pills out there.
