Fucoxanthin

Fucoxanthin is a naturally occurring carotenoid found in various types of seaweed. Carotenoids are found in plants and are largely responsible for pigment and coloration. We have known for a long time that people who consume high amounts of carotenoids in their diets live healthier, happier lives. These people experience lower mortality rates from chronic illnesses. We now know that this in part due to the powerful anti-oxidant effects produced by carotenoids, like Fucoxanthin. However, more recently scientists have focused on this specific carotenoid and begun to test Fucoxanthin for its powerful weight loss effects. In experiments on obese lab mice and rats, scientists saw a 5-10% decrease in body weight! This is very exciting evidence supporting Fucoxanthin as a powerful weight loss supplement ingredient. It works by targeting the UCP1 protein, which is responsible for increasing the rate at which abdominal fat is burned. This particular kind of fat is directly linked to heart disease and diabetes. Thermogenesis is stimulated in the fat cells, converting them to energy released into the blood stream. Its effects of lowering insulin and blood glucose levels can help those with hypoglycemia or diabetes. It is even in preliminary studies as an aid to fighting cancerous tumors. Some scientists think it will reduce the size and quantity of advanced-stage tumors in cancer patients. Fucoxanthin is proof that if we know where to look, nature provides us with incredible and powerful remedies.

Why take it in the supplement form?

It is true that when you order a miso soup, the seaweed used in it contains Fucoxanthin. And red seaweed, used for wrapping sushi, also contains this beneficial compound. But these sources are not concentrated enough to provide the body with an effective amount of carotenoid. In fact, you would have to consume about 10 times as much seaweed to get one clinically proven serving of Fucoxanthin. The problem with eating such a large portion of seaweed, even if you love the stuff, is that it is rich in iodine and could cause iodine poisoning in humans. So the safest, most effective way to get the desired amount of Fucoxanthin is to ensure that it is an ingredient in your dietary supplement or diet pill!

Is it clinically proven and safe?

The popularity of Fucoxanthin as an ingredient in diet supplements suggests its effectiveness. And the clinical testing that has been conducted backs this up. The lab mice exposed to Fucoxanthin lost up to 10% of their body mass. This would be like a 250 pound, obese person, losing 25 lbs! Undoubtedly, this is much more weight than they would lose with simple dieting and exercise alone. It is certainly much safer than many diet pills and has not been linked to any negative side effects, such as jitters or increased blood pressure and heart rate.

Fucoxanthin is for you!

It is known to help the body in many more ways than just weight loss! And the best part is it targets fat in the abdominal area – one of the most difficult parts of the body to burn fat. I highly recommend you give Fucoxanthin a try, the rewards will be well worth it!
